Gum grafts

Gum grafts are used to compensate for insufficient gum tissue, whether in quantity or quality. The causes are varied (traumatic brushing, chronic inflammation, iatrogenic prosthesis, etc.) and sometimes anatomical (frenulum insertion, dental malposition, thin gum and bone). These situations may result in severe sensitivity and/or significant aesthetic concerns. In many cases, however, it is possible either to compensate for gum loss or to slow its progression.
Dr Marin Pomperski establishes a diagnosis using a thorough aetiological assessment and preliminary radiographic analysis. The procedure is always carried out at the practice, in a dedicated surgical room, under sterile conditions and local anaesthesia. Several biomaterials are now available to regenerate gum tissue, although autografting remains the preferred technique.
Dr Marin Pomperski will always select the most appropriate approach. In certain situations, referral to a periodontist may be necessary. In such cases, Dr Pomperski works in close collaboration with distinguished practitioners who practise periodontics exclusively.
Periodontal Therapies – Periodontics

Periodontal diseases affect the supporting structures of the teeth, namely the gum and bone. When inflammation is limited to the gum, it is called gingivitis. When inflammation extends deeper into the tissues and bone, it is called periodontitis. Periodontitis is a chronic disease, meaning that once it appears, it remains part of the patient’s life. It is caused by the presence of bacteria (some more aggressive than others), and treatment focuses on limiting both their number and progression. Periodontal diseases are also influenced by many factors (tobacco use, medication, diabetes, immune disorders, etc.), which is why your dental surgeon may ask questions about your general health — making comprehensive care essential.
The goal of any periodontal treatment is to disinfect the space between the gum and the tooth by eliminating bacterial plaque and tartar. As a first step, treatment will be non-surgical (deep scaling and root planing). If necessary, following reassessment, surgical treatment may be performed under local anaesthesia. Finally, short-, medium-, and long-term maintenance is an integral part of managing this chronic disease.

Peri-implantitis Treatment

Peri-implantitis is caused by the persistence of bacteria in the space between the gum and the implant crown. These bacteria trigger inflammation, which in turn leads to bone loss around the implant. Treatment is adapted according to the extent of peri-implant destruction and must ensure effective hygiene around the implant.
Oral hygiene is therefore a key factor for patients with dental implants, as it helps to limit the accumulation of bacterial plaque.
The gingival environment surrounding the implant must be sufficient to allow proper cleaning. If the gum tissue is deficient in quality or quantity, it cannot adhere correctly to the implant. This is why additional gum grafting may sometimes be necessary. The prosthesis (crown or bridge) connected to the implant may obstruct cleaning around the gum and even create a site for plaque retention. In such cases, it may be necessary to remove, modify, or replace the prosthetic element supported by the implant.
With a University Diploma in Implantology, Dr Marin Pomperski is experienced in working with various implant systems (Straumann, Zimmer, Nobel, GC, etc.) and will always select the safest and most appropriate biomaterials. The prosthetic component is custom-made: all our prosthetic work is produced in France by renowned artisan Master Dental Technicians.
Comprehensive Care
Whatever the concern that brings you to our practice, you will benefit from comprehensive care for your oral health. All of our treatments include a preventive component, with guidance to support good oral hygiene.
Each patient undergoes a complete examination of the mucosa, teeth, and gums to ensure they receive the most appropriate advice and recommendations for maintaining long-term health. A chronological treatment plan is then developed and presented, with the patient actively involved in their own care.
Many conditions may originate in the teeth or have oral consequences. When necessary, Dr Marin Pomperski is accustomed to working within a team of specialists, including orthodontists, physicians, ENT specialists, maxillofacial surgeons, cosmetic surgeons, and others.
